Now that I have your attention, I'll now proceed to talk about the niche movies I just watched this week (muahahaha).
Ok so my University prepared a kind of 3-days festival this week (which went very bad lol) and everyday there was a tiny cinema projection on a classroom. A girl bringed some cool movies that happend to be some popular-culture films I had never watched before, and you could just sit down on a sofa and grab a free cup of popcorns. It was a pretty good experience.
The first movie was "The Lives of Others", a german movie that takes place on 1984. The protagonist is a Stasi secret agent who has to spy on a couple suspected by the government of rebelling against the dictatorship. But the film is more than that, and during the story this secret agent gets mesmerized by the passionate relationship of the said couple.
A really good movie, that have some really crude moments that hit you by behind. I was infected by those moments of anguish in certain scenes.
The second movie was "El secreto de tus ojos" (Sorry I don't know if there is a english adaption), an argentinian movie with the actoral participation of Ricardo Darín, a quite famous actor here in southamerica. He appears in a lot of argentinian movies, and now I get why people like him so much.
This movie takes place on a detective department, and the character of Darín is a kind of retired detective that wants to redact a book or novel about an old case that torments his head since long ago.
Oddly enough, this movie happened to be really fun for me, but not in a bad sense. The plot is actually really good, and the performance of the actors is a 10 out of 10. And despite the dark scenes and plot, I think it is a movie to enjoy watching rather than take too seriously or seek for a deep meaning. And I think the movie actually tells you that by certain scenes. Pretty solid experience, I could watch it again.
And finally, the third movie was actually a documentary called "La ciudad de los fotógrafos" (Pretty sure this one definitely doesn't have an english adaptation). It is a documentary that tells the experiences of a association of independient photographers called "AFI" (Asociación de Fotógrafos Independientes) that worked during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet here in Chile. Taking photos of protests and social demonstrations that occurred during the dictatorship, exposing the brutal police force deployed by the government to abolish the opposition. And also taking a space to talk about the missing detainees. Truly a dark part of chilean history.
And that's all I can remember now. Oh! they also gifted me a kind of coupon for the local cofee shop, tee hee. So you can already have an idea of how many people assisted this event.
Kinda sad that so many people missed the opportunity, but I hope the next one fills more seats. The experience was pretty great and I get to know some new faces ^-^
But that's all for today, I'm going to eat something now. Remember to drink water, apply sunscreen on your face, and wash your teeths! (or is it "theets" ?)
bye bye~ ( ° v ° )/
