IT'S ALIVE!

Hey people ^-^ Some days ago I started with a brand new project for my workspace. Since the last blog entry about Linux, I've been consuming a lot of videos and guides about home labbing and stuff like DIY servers. So I decided to mount my own personal server on my home, just using an old laptop (and some modifications).

I would like to do a YouTube video about this stuff soon, but in simple words, I optimized the computer to the maximum possible, and I also buy some upgrades like a 4GB RAM chip, a HDD Caddy for more internal space, and a new charger since the original is missing. Nothing has arrived yet, but I already configured the laptop so it's ready to install my services when all the other things come. It will be really fun :D

Also, the process of reviving the laptop was really challenging, because the screen was fully broken and I couldn't see anything during the setup. First, I tried disconnecting the screen so I use the laptop with only HDMI, but that blocked me in the BIOS, so I had to leave it there. Then, I tried installing the new OS on the Hard Drive directly from another PC. And surprisingly it worked! So I connected it again to a monitor, and it was magically working again :D (Not to mention that during all this setup I had to use the charger of my own computer, since they luckly were of the same brand).

I'm really excited about how is going, so I will try to give new updates when everything is ready ^-^

¡ESTÁ VIVO!

Hola papus ^-^ Hace unos cuantos días empecé con un nuevo e increíble proyecto para mi área de trabajo. Desde la última entrada donde hablé sobre Linux, he estado viendo un montón de videos y guías sobre el home labbing y cosas sobre como hacer tus propios servidores. Así que decidí montar mi propio servidor personal en mi casa, solamente usando una vieja laptop del gobierno (y unas cuantas modificaciones).

Me gustaría hacer un video más a fondo próximamente en mi canal de YT, pero en palabras simples, optimicé la computadora lo máximo posible, y también le compré algunas mejoras, como más RAM, un Caddy HDD para más almacenamiento interno, y un cargador nuevo ya que el original se perdió. Nada de lo que compré ha llegado aún, pero ya me adelanté y configuré la laptop para que esté lista para recibir todos los servicios que voy a instalarle. Va a ser muy divertido :D

El proceso para revivir esa laptop fué realmente desafiante, ya que la pantalla estaba rota, así que no podía ver nada durante el setup. Primero intenté desconectando la pantalla para así usar la computadora a través de un monitor, pero eso me bloqueo en un error de la BIOS, así que tuve que dejarla en su lugar. Después, intenté instalando el nuevo SO en el disco duro, a través otra computadora ¡Y sorprendentemente funcionó! Así que la conecté de nuevo al monitor, y mágicamente empezó a funcionar de nuevo :D (Vale la pena mencionar que durante todo el proceso tuve que usar el cargador de mi propia computadora, ya que por suerte eran de la misma marca).

La verdad es que estoy muy emocionada por como está quedando todo, trataré de traer nuevas noticias una vez ya tenga todo listo ^-^

Pero bueno, sin más que decir me despido, feliz 14 de Febrero a los que vayan a celebrarlo. bye bye~
